Steiner и соавт. [95] описали и проиллюстрировали эффективное «ослабляющее» упражнение, при котором больной в положении стоя ритмично выполняет полную ротацию в тазобедренном суставе, позволяя туловищу и рукам передвигаться свободно. Они рекомендовали проводить эти упражнения от 3 до 6 раз в день (каждые 4 ч).

После растягивания грушевидной мышцы следует выполнить общеукрепляющие упражнения, начинающиеся в положении лежа на непораженной («нормальной») стороне, согнув на 90° верхнее (пораженное) бедро. Этот способ особенно эффективен в тех случаях, когда помощник врача может вначале пассивно отвести бедро больного, а затем позволяет больному медленно опустить бедро на стол, активируя сокращение с удлинением грушевидной мышцы. В такой же позе можно вызвать сокращение с укорочением, если активно отводить бедро, согнутое в тазобедренном суставе, преодолевая силу тяжести.
