Suddenly he heard the Templar's voice in his ear.

"All is lost, De Bracy," said the Templar. "The castle is burning behind us."

"You are mad (ты сошел с ума)!" replied De Bracy.

"The west side is all in flames (западная сторона вся в огне; flame — пламя; in flames — в огне, горящий, пылающий). De Bracy swung his sword at the Black Knight (де Браси замахнулся мечом на Черного рыцаря), and the Black Knight struck back at him with his battle-axe (а Черный рыцарь нанес ему ответный удар своей алебардой; to strike back — нанести ответный удар, дать сдачи), knocking De Bracy off his feet (сбив де Браси с ног).

De Bracy led his men down to the castle gate, but the Black Knight had already forced his way through it. De Bracy swung his sword at the Black Knight, and the Black Knight struck back at him with his battle-axe, knocking De Bracy off his feet.

The Black Knight whispered something in De Bracy's ear (Черный рыцарь прошептал что-то на ухо де Браси).

"I am your prisoner (я ваш пленник)," De Bracy said to the Black Knight, "rescue or no rescue (на милость победителя)."

"Then go to the barbican (тогда иди к навесной башне) and wait for my further orders (и жди моих дальнейших приказаний; order — порядок; приказ, распоряжение)," said the Black Knight.

The Black Knight whispered something in De Bracy's ear.

"I am your prisoner," De Bracy said to the Black Knight, "rescue or no rescue."

"Then go to the barbican and wait for my further orders," said the Black Knight.

"Let me first tell you (позвольте сперва сказать вам) that Wilfred of Ivanhoe is wounded (что Уилфрид Айвенго ранен) and a prisoner here (и /содержится/ пленником здесь). He will die in this burning castle (он умрет в этом горящем замке) if you do not help him (если вы не поможете ему)."

"Wilfred of Ivanhoe!" exclaimed the Black Knight. "A prisoner (пленником)! Tell me where he is (скажи мне, где он)!"

De Bracy gave the Black Knight directions to the room in the tower (де Браси указал Черному рыцарю, как добраться до комнаты в башне; direction — адрес /на письме и т.п./; указание дороги, совет, как пройти куда-либо) where his men had taken Ivanhoe (куда его люди отвели Айвенго /раньше/).

De Bracy gave the Black Knight directions to the room in the tower where his men had taken Ivanhoe.

He then took off his helmet (он затем снял свой шлем), gave his sword to Locksley (отдал свой меч Локсли), who came in as he went out (который вошел /как раз тогда, когда/ он вышел), and walked across the floating bridge to the barbican (и пошел по плавучему мосту к навесной башне).
