Авторы этой книги согласны с тем, что движение к новым горизонтам, как его представляет себе Марк Карни (2019), необходимо, возможно и своевременно. Это движение может проявляться по-разному в зависимости от того, на каких вопросах, проблемах и решениях мы сосредоточимся. Главы этой книги описывают ряд подходов к тому, как именно оно может выглядеть, начиная с того, располагаем ли мы нужными теоретическими инструментами для осмысления новых горизонтов (главы 2 и 3), и заканчивая дискуссиями о переосмыслении устоявшейся практики ESG (например, глава 7) и расширением границ обсуждения с помощью технологий и альтернативных форм данных (главы 12, 13 и 14).
Предприятия и финансовые институты могут процветать только в том случае, если они обеспечивают долгосрочную прибыльность и положительный инвестиционный доход, что является основой рынков и капитализма. Однако для этого необходимо одновременно управлять краткосрочной и долгосрочной перспективами, справляться с постоянно меняющейся (разрушительной) конкуренцией и учитывать возможное материальное воздействие различных взаимосвязанных факторов ESG. Надеемся, эта книга расширит наши знания о том, как устойчивое инвестирование может способствовать такому балансу.
