Ранульф Хигден (Higden) (ум. 1364) — монах-бенедиктинец из аббатства св. Вербурги в Честере с 1299 года, написал свой знаменитый «Polychronicon» примерно в 1347 году. Этот труд, задуманный как исчерпывающая всеобщая история до 1342 года, написан очень живо, но в нем есть пробелы и повторы. Тем не менее он приобрел огромную популярность и в 1387 году был переведен на английский язык Джоном Тревиза (см. выше). Продолжение, доведенное до 1381 года, было добавлено Джоном Молвериом, монахом из Вустера.

«Хроника из Mo» (Chronicleo/Meaux) была написана в одном из Йоркширских монастырей, охватывает события до 1406 года. Названа по нахождению в городе Мо (Франция)
