Не все то золото, что блестит, в богатстве счастия нет,
А молодость мелькнет и пройдет, — безжалостен грешный свет.
Нет больше Марии, однако в веках ее добродетель живет.
В гробнице покоится тело ее, по слава ее не умрет.
В ком, как не в ней, воедино сошлись прелесть и доброта?
С ее благочестием спорить могла одна лишь ее красота.
Да было ли в мире достоинство то, какого бы не было в пей,
В ней, никогда не склонявшей слух к наветам на верных друзей?
Она воцарилась — народ ликовал, и счастья настала пора.
Она воздевала десницу свою лишь только во имя добра.
Когда в руинах лежала страна, она нам надеждой была,
Ярились враги — побеждала она, но к падшим была мила.
На трон королевский взошла она, принцессою рождена,
Благословенная жена, учтива, чиста и скромна.
Она не страшилась жестоких гроз — ей был опорою Бог,
Могучих недругов одолеть ей наш Вседержитель помог.
Была совершенства примером она, ни в ком не видавшая зла,
Хотя лишь страданья, боль и тоску ей жизнь в удел принесла.
