The book starts with the Peter Waldo standing up for what he believed in. He was kicked out of the church, so he started his own religion. The Waldensians came to America to escape religion burden. Their lives was compared to the story from the Bible when the children of Israel crossed the Jordan River, they were told to pick up a stone, one for each of the 12 tribes.
