This book traces the history of the use of armoured vehicles for infantry support during the Second World War. It does this by considering the tactical manuals, the vehicles and weapons involved, and the history of the relevant engagements. The book falls into three main sections. The first covers the Infantry tanks, Matilda II and Churchill, and Sherman when used in direct infantry support, giving examples from the desert and Normandy campaigns. The second covers the use of specialised armour, with descriptions of the vehicles and accounts of how they were used to support infantry, particularly accounts of the fighting at Le Havre and Blerick. The final section covers Kangaroos, the early APCs, the importance of which is usually underrated. The use of Kangaroos is illustrated by the battle of the Argenta Gap. The book is 58,000 words long and in content and format is designed to compliment the author's 'Cruiser Tank Warfare'.
