The Emperor of Blefuscu took three days to think about this. He then sent an answer, saying that it would be impossible to send me back tied up. Although I had taken his fleet, he owed me much for helping to make peace. He told the Emperor of Lilliput that I had found a large boat, which would carry me on the sea. He hoped that both Empires would be free of me in a few weeks' time.
The messenger returned to Lilliput with this answer (с этим ответом посланец возвратился в Лилипутию). The Emperor of Blefuscu then offered to protect me (/а/ император Блефуску предложил мне тогда свое покровительство: «защищать меня») if I stayed (если я останусь).
