  So the Red Army occupied powerful defensive lines and was mobilized. Despite all efforts, the Third Reich never managed to achieve a quantitative superiority in tanks and aircraft. The only Nazis overtook the USSR in jet aircraft. At the expense of the quality of tanks, here in the Red Army, not everything is clear. The KV series went by increasing the size and mass of tanks and reached a dead end. And the production of the IS-2 has just begun to improve, as well as the T-34-85. And the former T-34-76 was too inferior to the Panther in frontal armor and armor-piercing and rate of fire of the gun.

  Another problem for the USSR was that Japan also decided to enter the war.

  She did not dare to fight alone against the US and Britain. But on the other hand, she decided to attack the USSR together and take revenge for Khalkhin Gol.

  So Stalin expected a double blow.

  The Germans and their allies went on the offensive. After peace with Britain, the Nazis had a couple of small wars. Helped Italy conquer Greece. And they carried out Operation Polar Bear, capturing Sweden. After that, they formed a huge coalition against the USSR. Including Spain, with Portugal, and at the same time Turkey. Plus, foreign divisions, both colonial and European occupied countries.

  The numerical superiority was on the side of the Nazis and their troops were able, despite the developed defense of the Red Army in terms of engineering, to break through the front and wedge into positions.

  The Soviet troops did not hold the Bialystok ledge, as well as the Molotov line, and retreated to the Stalin line.
