In Joey Jenkinson's third novel, a train grinds to a halt in England's West Country during adverse weather conditions. Eight very diverse characters seek shelter at an empty manor house when the minibus laid on to escort them to their destination breaks down in the snow: celebrated crime writer Johnny Rodrigues and his ex-rugger player boyfriend, Mike Brent; solicitor Dave Rose, recently dumped by his wife after she caught him with another man; Trevor Kylesworthy, about to be reunited with his much older lover; white-collar worker Nick Quinn, still mourning the great love of his life, killed last year in a car crash; Janet Ellis, a nurse whose last elderly charge died in mysterious circumstances; grumpy middle-aged retired Army colonel Tom Fellows and his neurotic wife, Kate; and Jack Gibbons, their luckless driver. The old house becomes a den of sexual iniquity as, hemmed in by the snow and ice, its occupants are picked off one by one by a psychotic killer. WARNING: contains adult material of a sexual nature
