This book is a unique compilation of over 500 Irish traditional tunes from the East Limerick/North Tipperary region of Ireland. The collection incorporates many well-known Irish traditional music tunes in addition to a number of tunes that may now be lost to the tradition. This book is unique in terms of the study of Irish music and culture in that it traces many of the set dances and songs that were popular in rural Ireland in the late-19th and early-20th centuries and how they influenced Irish music in Britain and the US. A particular focus of the book is also on how the music of the Irish diaspora in turn shaped and inspired new developments in the Irish musical tradition of Ireland, both at home and abroad.
