    Jean-Pierre de Claris, chevalier de Florian (1755-1794) naquit a Sauve (Gard). Disciple de Voltaire, celui-ci le nommait le Floriannet a cause de sa petite taille. Florian fut le second fabuliste apres La Fontaine ; il a laisse des expressions courantes comme : Pour vivre heureux, vivons caches... Il ecrivit les paroles de la chanson populaire Plaisir d'amour. Conteur, beau parleur, Florian enchanta les salons parisiens de la fin du XVIII(deg) siecle.
