MOLECULAR COMPLEXES IN EARTH'S, PLANETARY COMETARY AND INTERSTELLAR ATMOSPHERES
A introductory fragment is available
Language of a book: Английский
Publisher: Gardners Books

This book introduces systematically the concept of weakly-bound complexes into the broad field of atmospheric sciences. To fill up the gap between our rapidly expanding knowledge of the individual properties of Van der Waals and hydrogen-bonded molecules, and our understanding of their role in the atmospheric processes, an ensemble of related topics are covered by a team of expert co-authors. The general properties of the weakly bound molecular complexes (or “clusters”) are discussed, as well as their distribution in the planetary atmospheres. Collision-induced and dimeric absorption and emission are considered in the context of atmospheric spectroscopy. The advanced experimental techniques which enable us to study the spectroscopic features of molecular complexes in the gas phase, or which are adsorbed, are reviewed. The role of molecular complexes in the cometary atmosphere, the Earth mesosphere, and the atmospheres of the giant planets and some of their satellites are also discussed in detail.Contents:Statistical Physics and Thermodynamics of Bimolecular Complexes (A A Vigasin)Non-rigidity in van der Waals Molecules: Some Case Studies (R G A Bone)Dimeric Absorption in the Atmosphere (A A Vigasin)Dimers in Earth's and Planetary Atmospheres: The (H2O)2, (N2)2, N2-O2, (O2)2, (O3)2, (CO2)2, (H2)2, and Ar-N2 Cases (Z Slanina et al.)Fullerenes and Other Carbon Aggregates, and the Diffuse Interstellar Bands (Z Slanina et al.)Planetary Atmospheres: The Role of Collision-induced Absorption (L M Trafton)Chemical and Optical Properties of Molecular Complexes Using Matrix Isolation Spectroscopy (L Schriver-Mazzuoli)Infrared Spectroscopy of Size-selected Free and Adsorbed Water Complexes (F Huisken)Readership: Atmospheric scientists, space & planetary scientists and chemists.Key Features:No competing titles: the book is a unique summary in the field of searches for relativity violationsThis is the 6th volume in the seriesProminent contributors include leading scientists performing experimental tests of CPT and Lorentz symmetry, such as: Larry Hunter (Amherst), Anna Nobili (Pisa), Hans Wilschut (Groningen), Michael Tobar (Western Australia), Henric Krawczynski (Washington U), Stephan Schiller (Duesseldorf), Holger Mueller (Berkeley), Gerald Gwinner (Manitoba), Achim Peters (Humboldt), Antonio De Santis (Rome), Michael Romalis (Princeton), Leo Hollberg (Stanford)
