The American West of yesterday is a subject that many write about. One if its fiercest proponents was a woman who wrote 57 novels about it. Born Bertha Muzzy Sinclair or Sinclair-Cowan, nee Muzzy on November 15, 1871 she is best known by her pseudonym B. M. Bower. Raised in her early years in Montana the experience provided much for the landscape and characters of her works. As well as her novels she wrote several screenplays in the early years of the movies with when a large portion of her works were published. She died on July 23, 1940
