In this book the author offers a brand new conception for the 21st century of the Jews as the Chosen People. He sets out criteria for an acceptable conception and critiques previous leading views on the basis of those criteria. He then advances a conception that preserves a special relationship between God and the Jews, but only as one that serves as a call to all people from God. The author shows how his conception of Chosenness encourages respect for other peoples and other religions, and provides a new rationale for inter-religious dialogue.
