FORCE-FREE MAGNETIC FIELDS
Author:E MARSH G (EN)
A introductory fragment is available
Language of a book: Английский
Publisher: Gardners Books

After an introductory chapter concerned with the history of force-free magnetic fields, and the relation of such fields to hydrodynamics and astrophysics, the book examines the limits imposed by the virial theorem for finite force-free configurations. Various techniques are then used to find solutions to the field equations. The fact that the field lines corresponding to these solutions have the common feature of being “twisted”, and may be knotted, motivates a discussion of field line topology and the concept of helicity. The topics of field topology, helicity, and magnetic energy in multiply connected domains make the book of interest to a rather wide audience. Applications to solar prominence models, type-II superconductors, and force-reduced magnets are also discussed. The book contains many figures and a wealth of material not readily available elsewhere.Contents:IntroductionThe Virial TheoremSolutions to the Force-Free Field EquationsField TopologyMagnetic Energy in Multiply Connected DomainsApplicationsForce-Free Fields and Electromagnetic WavesProof of the Jacobi Polynomial IdentitiesSeparation of the Wave Equation, Cyclides, and Boundary ConditionsReadership: Students and researchers working in physics, astrophysics, hydrodynamics, plasma physics and energy research.Key Features:Illuminates the relationship between how you feel and how you performReveals research identifying principles by which world-class performers in business, medicine, music, athletics and the military manage how they feel to increase their performanceIdentifies unexamined assumptions about work and business that lead to mediocrityIncludes personal and engaging inspirational insights from world-class individuals and organizationsWritten in an easy-to-understand personal conversational style with minimal academic jargonContains short and easily readable chapters with single concepts, clear diagrams, and stories to illustrate the concepts in each chapterWritten for employees, managers, executives, and performers of all levels in all professionsCoauthored by a successful expert on leadership and a performance-oriented consultant to high performing individuals and organizationsBased on work done all over the world including Thailand, Australia, Brazil, Mexico, Costa Rico, Japan, Canada, the United States, the United Kingdom, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and the Middle East, thereby representing a truly international perspective
