The theme of the book is 'positive change', and the essays provide viable alternatives to the status quo, encouraging readers to work, in their daily lives, towards the creation of a fairer and more sustainable Australia for the future. Contributors include Natasha Stott Despoja on higher education; Julian Burnside on refugees; Helen Caldicott on nuclear power; Pat O'Shane on Indigenous Australians; Julia Gillard on healthcare; Carmen Lawrence on women's issues; Michael Kirby on dissent and Mike Rann on the environment. Proceeds from the book will be donated to Oxfam Community Aid Abroad.
