The River Mimram (also known as the Maran or Mimerum) flows quietly down the dip slope of the Chiltern Hills from its source in an area of beautiful countryside close to Luton, Hitchin and Stevenage. After passing through Welwyn and Welwyn Garden City, the Mimram joins the River Lea at the outskirts of the county town of Hertford.
