Father Crimmins is a parish priest, former collegiate basketball rival of Carroll Dorsey, and now about to be indicted for murder by District Attorney Douglas Turner. Turner, a political enemy of Dorsey's father, is out to take some political revenge and the murder victim is the husband of the woman with whom Crimmins is having an affair.
