The novel A Shortage of Sand by J.E. Jansen offers a unique take on the early days of the Obama administration. Humorous and sexy this may be, but at its core is a scathing political satire. Numerous laughs come at the expense of Eric Holder, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, Bill and Hillary, Rahm Emanuel, Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, Al Gore, the Mainstream Media, and the President himself. If you feel that Barack Obama's policies have delivered more than enough anguish and anxiety into your life, then for sanity's sake you may want to consider purchasing A Shortage of Sand. It offers the best possible remedy: laughter. A Shortage of Sand by J.E. Jansen is witty, pithy, and a parody on what's wrong with political correctness. Obama liberals will hate it. Tea Party 'moral high-grounders' (those preachy types squeamish about promiscuity and other human frailties) will despise it. Practitioners of political correctness won't get past the first few chapters. And maybe that's why it is so much fun. The story takes twists and turns totally unexpected, and Jansen's wit (and wisdom) shines through as he writes about an improbable encounter and a fairy tale outcome; all and all an eminently readable story that makes fun of everyone, including the writer. A memorable 'must read' for anyone looking for laughs this political season.
