The Multinational Subsidiary summarises and evaluates the state of the art in research on the multinational subsidiary, with particular reference to managerial and economic development dimensions. The volume includes articles of Professor Neil Hood which have been published in leading academic journals over a period of nearly 30 years, most in conjunction with other leading scholars (especially Julian Birkinshaw and Stephen Young). Chapters relate in particular to UK/European dimensions of inward investment and aspects of corporate and regional integration; as well as to multinational subsidiaries' activities in Canada and Sweden. The book also draws on Neil Hood's insights from his work as an adviser to and director of multinational subsidiaries, and as director of an inward investment agency and other government service. Finally, it provides new contributions which highlight future research agendas relating to the multinational and its subsidiaries and host country development and policy.
